When the Moon Hits Your Eye...

Hi there friends! Yesterday’s weather for Father’s Day was absolutely glorious here on the Central Coast of CA! The minute I stepped outside I knew I wanted to create a special dinner and table for my sweet hubby in honor of the amazing father he is to our children. He is one week into recovering from his first knee replacement surgery so our options to celebrate were somewhat limited. I gave him complete control of the television remote and he watched The Godfather Coda (remastered third movie) which provided me with inspiration! I decided to give him a simple, Italian villa inspired dinner on our back patio, under the twinkle lights and stars!

Shop the Pantry
For this tablescape, I used things I already had, including items from our pantry. Don’t be afraid to incorporate every day items into your decor and tablescape. I knew I wanted to keep the look simple and fresh. I started with an old rusted ceiling tin to anchor and placed a potted lavender tree in the center to create height.

A vintage ironstone platter holds items pulled from my pantry and garden. I used tomato cans to pot some fresh basil and hold breadsticks.
I love the vintage feel of the labels and the pop of color! An old wicker Chianti bottle evokes the feeling of an Italian evening, and I surrounded it with fresh lemons and herbs.
Set the Table

I used simple ironstone plates on jute placemats for a rustic feel. I love to add unexpected touches so mini charcuterie boards became utensil holders. I placed them on top of striped linens, added gold flatware, sprigs of fresh rosemary, and tied with jute twine. Bottles of Pellegrino and vintage goblets add a special touch.

Enjoy the Evening
My husband was so touched when he “limped” outside to see HIS special table! Tony Bennet was crooning in the background, the stars were coming out to join the twinkle lights, and a slight breeze wafted the scent of fresh herbs through the air! I sealed the deal with a freshly baked loaf of Jalepeno Cheddar Sourdough...his favorite!
It was truly a magical night and he felt like a king!
Remember, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to create a special dinner table! Shop your home and turn ordinary items into works of art!
Cent’Anni!
XO,
Tracy
