Ain't no Cure for the Summertime Red, White and Blues!
Hi friends! I'm so excited to be a part of an amazing Early Summer Decor Blog Hop! If you are coming over from Patricia https://www.patriciajusticedesigns.com, WELCOME! Thank you so much for stopping by! I don't know about you but for me, June always feels like the beginning of summer! I want to bring out all of the patriotic decor, get the bbq and patio ready, and celebrate all things Americana! My summer decor starts with Memorial Day and I tend to keep the red, white and blue going all season long. I thought I'd share a bit of our patriotic summer decor in hopes you might be a tad inspired!
Let's Start at the Very Beginning...or Entry!
I feel like the entry is the handshake of your home! It truly sets the tone of your home. I love to create a cozy entry by curating a seasonal gallery wall, adding a bench with fluffy pillows and throws, and plants for movement and interest. I love to add everyday items like denim jackets and straw hats, that evoke the feel of summer and can also be grabbed when running out the door. You can literally shop your closet!
Pull up a Chair and Stay a While!
A table is to the home decorator what a palette is to a painter...an opportunity to create art! I love to set a beautiful table for every holiday and season. I shop thrift stores, antique malls, yard sales and flea markets for ironstone, linens, glasses and flatware. I love to use old wooden boxes and vintage books to create height, I create visual interest by mixing pattern, color and textures with linens. And again...plants, faux or real, bring life to the table!
Our mantel is very long and therefore not easy to photograph. It is, however, fun to decorate because there is a lot of space for a maximalist to cram...I mean STYLE "stuff!" I don't think you need to completely redo your entire mantel for every season. My secret? I use a few key pieces that I keep up almost all year long, and then add in seasonal decor. My mantel must haves are:
-large frame, shutter, or mirror
-salvaged architectural pieces
Once I have those items in place, I add in seasonal decor such as flags, greenery, and garland. This is such a simple change from season to season!
